The Automated Transit Information System (ATIS)
developed for InfoDirect Pty Limited in Sydney, Australia, provides
transit information services on behalf of both State Rail Authority of
New South Wales and State Transit Authority of New South Wales. The ATIS
project is an implementation of Megadyne's PARIS® software, and
became operational in March 1994.
The geographic service area comprises more than 62,000 square miles of the state of New South Wales. Included is metropolitan Sydney, Australia's largest city. Within that service area PARIS( accommodates a virtually unlimited number of origin/destination points, and provides information on trips that use multiples modes of transportation including bus, rail and ferry. At Sydney, PARIS®
is installed on Digital computers running the VMS operating system. The
system is accessed by information agents using VT-250
terminals. |
