Megadyne Information Systems PARIS®

Passenger Routing and Transit Services Information System (PARIS®) automates passenger routing and the delivery of transit services information. It instantly provides accurate details about a variety of transit services. Included are schedules, routes, fares, itineraries, stops, lines and sales outlets.

Importantly, PARIS® provides optimum itineraries for riders across any given geographical service area. Efficient, proprietary pathfinding algorithms, along with a digitized map calculate the optimum itineraries. The calculation of itineraries facilitates the response to the most complex and time-consuming of all patron inquiries. A variety of selection criteria suited to the rider's specific needs dictate the solutions to these calculations. Where alternate routes exist, the rider can be directed to the fastest route, the simplest route, the least congested route, or the lowest fare route.

PARIS® allows fast, consistent and accurate responses to patron inquiries. More inquiries can be handled without increasing staff. Calls lost through an inability to respond promptly are reduced. Service changes are more easily accommodated. PARIS® maintains and reports on patron inquiries, system utilization and staff performance. As a result, management gains greater insight and control over this vital function.

PARIS® is available on UNIX and Windows NT platforms. It supports a relational database management system (Oracle, Sybase, or other SQL-compliant databases) and provides on-screen map graphics and map maintenance features using MapObjects and ArcView from ESRI, that have been integrated into the product. It employs a client-server architecture that is capable of supporting desktop, kiosk and Internet clients.
