The MDTA Customer Information System (CIS) project is an implementation of two Megadyne software products: PARIS® and PARISpeak®. The CIS project was completed in 1991, one month ahead of schedule. The MDTA (Miami-Dade Transit Authority) operates a multi-modal public transportation system serving over 1.5 million people in the Miami, Florida metropolitan area. The three modes are (1) MetroRail, a heavy rail system; (2) People Mover, an elevated fully-automated light rail system; and (3) a fleet of buses. Together they comprise 550 vehicles. At Miami, PARIS® and PARISpeak® are installed on Digital computers running the VMS operating systems. The system is accessed by information agents using VT-250 terminals.
