Megadyne Information Systems Los Angeles
The MTA's Computerized Customer Information System (CCIS) project is an implementation of Megadyne's PARISŪ and PARISpeakŪ software. The system became fully operational in December 1985. The MTA (Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Agency) is the largest public transit agency in the United States providing bus, subway and light rail services. It serves a five-county area which makes its geographical service area one of the largest. The CCIS project automates their Telephone Information Center and is considered a part of the overall Transit Management Information System (TRANSMIS). The Telephone Information Center is a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week operation. It employs 65 information agents during prime shift hours.
In addition, the CCIS provides a regional transportation data base that allows information agents to provide transit information for more than 40 public and private transportation agencies in the region - in addition to the MTA - and to perform automated trip planning that involves multiple agencies.
At the CCIS, PARISŪ is installed on an IBM 3081 mainframe-class computer running MVS and CCIS. The system is accessed by information agents using 3270 terminals.
