Megadyne Information Systems Columbus
The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) provides a Customer Information System (CIS) based on an implementation of two Megadyne software products: PARISŪ and PARISpeakŪ. The CIS project began on June 18, 1990 and was completed on August 30, 1991, one month ahead of schedule.
COTA provides mass transit services for all of Central Ohio, including Franklin County and the city of Columbus. COTA provides the region with bus service totaling over 17 million passenger trips per year and over 9 million miles traveled. Since COTA was established in 1974, bus routes have nearly doubled and annual ridership has increased by 5 million. Approximately 60,000 passengers use COTA's services every day.
At COTA, PARISŪ and PARISpeakŪ are installed on Digital VAX computers running the VMS operating systems. The system is accessed by information agents using VT-250 terminals.
